Uncover the Hidden Gem of Jaipur: PATLIPUTRA's Untold Story!

Alright, buckle up, buttercups, ‘cause we’re diving headfirst into the dusty rose world of Patliputra Jaipur! Forget the perfectly manicured travel blogs, you're getting the real story, the unfiltered, slightly spilt-chai version of what it's like to stay there. And let me tell you, after spending a few days there… well, let’s just say I've got stories.

First Impressions (and a few minor grumbles):

Okay, so getting to Patliputra is a bit of a… journey. Jaipur traffic? Think of it as a chaotic ballet, starring cows, tuk-tuks, and a whole lot of honking. The hotel website promised airport transfer, which, thank goodness they actually delivered on. Seriously, after a 14-hour flight, the last thing you want is to wrestle a rickshaw driver. Score one for service!

Once you arrive, the exterior actually looks… well, it looks like it belongs. Imagine a subtle, modern palace, all clean lines and a welcoming courtyard. The doorman, bless his heart, had a genuine smile and was quick to help with luggage – which is always a good sign. The lobby? Spacious, airy, with that essential air conditioning blasting (hallelujah!).

Accessibility & The Whole Wheeled Experience:

Alright, I can’t personally vouch for this because I don’t use a wheelchair, but I did notice a few things. There's an elevator – a definite win. There's a mention of facilities for disabled guests – so there's something to work with, but details on just what those facilities are… well, that's where things get sketchy. The hotel claims to be wheelchair accessible, but I'd still recommend calling ahead and specifically querying room accessibility, bathroom modifications, and access to the pool/restaurants. Don't just take their word for it. Trust me, ask a lot of questions before you book.

Internet, Oh, The Internet! (and its little struggles)

The Free Wi-Fi in all rooms! is a big perk, and hey, it mostly worked. There were a few moments where the signal faded faster than my patience with Instagram influencers, but for the most part, it was dependable enough to check emails and browse. They also have internet access – LAN, if that's how you roll. I preferred the convenience of the Wi-Fi in public areas, too, and I was able to post an embarrassing amount of photos.

Safety & Cleanliness – Feeling Safe (Mostly):

Right, let's get serious for a minute. Post-pandemic, cleanliness is crucial. Patliputra Jaipur seems to understand. They offer hand sanitizer everywhere, daily disinfection in common areas, rooms sanitized between stays, and staff trained in safety protocol. I saw physical distancing measures in place, and the food service setup felt safe—more on that in a bit. Anti-viral cleaning products are mentioned – and honestly, that's comforting. They have a doctor/nurse on call and first aid kit which is also something to be thankful for.

They also have CCTV in common areas and CCTV outside property, smoke alarms and a fire extinguisher on every floor. Overall, I felt pretty secure.

Rooms – My Sanctuary (and my slight frustrations):

Okay, so, the rooms. I asked for non-smoking, and I got non-smoking – check! The air conditioning blasted (again, a HUGE win in Jaipur heat), and the bed was comfy enough (extra long, I swear!). There’s a coffee/tea maker in the room, a definite must (for this caffeine addict, anyway!). I had a window that opens, which was great for getting fresh air when I wanted. The blackout curtains were a game-changer for sleeping in. Daily housekeeping kept things tidy. The room had complimentary tea, slippers, bathrooms phone, and hair dryer.

My room had a safe box- good to go and a refrigerator- nice for a traveler who wants to keep a few juices handy.

Now the things that gave me a slight "hrmpf"…

  • The lighting was a bit dim, making it hard to read at night.
  • The mirror in the bathroom was a bit smudgy - this is not ideal for an Instagram selfie, people!
  • The soundproofing was a little lacking. I could sometimes hear the hallway chatter, especially around check-in time.
  • Also, the extra long bed was almost too long.

Dining, Drinking, and Snacking – Food Glorious Food (more or less..):

This is where Patliputra Jaipur really shines, mostly. I’m a foodie, so I have opinions.

Breakfast: Breakfast. Breakfast! The Breakfast [buffet] was included, which is always a bonus. The Asian breakfast options were excellent, featuring Asian cuisine in restaurant. The Western breakfast was pretty good too. There were also things like soup in restaurant, Desserts in restaurant, coffee/tea in restaurant and salad in restaurant all available. Breakfast takeaway service was available, which was handy for early mornings! Bottle of water and essential condiments were available.

Lunches & Dinners: The Restaurants offered A la carte in restaurant, which was fine and the Asian cuisine in restaurant, although I mostly went for the International cuisine in restaurant. There were restaurants serving Asian cuisine in restaurant, but honestly, the vegetarian restaurant was good or the Western cuisine in restaurant was much better.

The Poolside bar was a good place to wind down.Coffee shop was also there, if you need a quick caffeine jolt. There was also a snack bar. It’s a great place for a quick bite!

Rooms Service: The Room service [24-hour] definitely came in handy!

The Highlight – The Pool and View (this is where I LOST IT in a good way):

Okay, listen. This is what you're here for. The Swimming pool [outdoor] is gorgeous. Seriously, the Pool with view is breathtaking.

  • I spent an afternoon there, and it was pure bliss!* The Sauna and Steamroom are available after.

I'm not talking about a tiny plunge pool. This is a proper, sparkling oasis with loungers and umbrellas. And the view? Oh, the view! You're looking out over Jaipur, a panorama of color and chaos. I felt like I'd stepped into a postcard.

I ordered a drink from the poolside bar, and the happy hour was actually pretty good! And I did a massage - a total indulgence!

Things to Do & Ways to Relax – Pamper Yourself, Baby!

Patliputra Jaipur is definitely geared towards relaxation. The Spa is amazing. Yes, they have a Fitness center, but let's be honest, I spent most of my time by the pool. They offer a range of treatments, including a Body scrub and Body wrap. I hear the Foot bath is amazing. Seriously, treat yourself.

Services and Conveniences – Help is on Hand:

The Concierge was super helpful, arranging tours and offering advice. The Dry cleaning and Laundry service came in very handy. They also had Cash withdrawal, because let’s be honest, you will need cash in India.

Business and Events – If You Must Work:

If you’re there for business, they have things like Business facilities, Meeting/banquet facilities, and Audio-visual equipment for special events. They even host on-site events – I’m guessing weddings are popular.

Family Fun – For the Little Ones:

They have Babysitting service and are Family/child friendly!

Check in & Check out: They do contactless check-in/out – a definite plus!

The Good, The Bad, and the Totally Worth It:

Okay, so, Patliputra Jaipur isn’t perfect. But it is charming. It has flaws, like a slightly-sketchy Wi-Fi signal and a few minor room quirks. But the pros FAR outweigh the cons. The pool alone is worth the price of admission. The staff are friendly, the food is good (especially the breakfast!), and the overall vibe is one of relaxed luxury.

My Honest Verdict:

Would I go back? Absolutely! I already want to. The couple's room sounds amazing and the proposal spot will be a must. I’d recommend it to anyone looking for a comfortable, stylish, and relaxing stay in Jaipur. Just… don't expect perfection. Embrace the messy, the slightly-chaotic, the utterly Indian charm of it all.

Alright, buckle up buttercups, because we're about to dive headfirst into the chaos and charm that is Patliputra (that's Patna, for you geography dummies…well, I almost got it wrong, so no judgment!) and Jaipur – the Pink City – India! This won't be your perfectly curated Instagram post, trust me. This is going to be the real, sweaty, chai-stained, utterly unforgettable experience.

Day 1: Arrival in Patliputra (Patna) - Disaster Strikes…Kinda.

  • Morning (Like, REALLY Early): Land in Patna. "Charming" airport, let's just say. I'm talking functional, not fabulous. The heat hits you like a brick wall the second you step outside. Instantly regret my decision to pack only black. (Emotional Reaction: Pure, unadulterated sweat despair). Find the pre-paid taxi, which, wouldn't you know it, looked nothing like the pictures I saw online. Driver is a lovely older gentleman with a smile that could launch a thousand ships. The first sign of a true adventure, right?
  • Morning (Continued, because Time Works Differently Here): Check into the hotel. Let's call it… "rustic." Basically, it's a room. With a bed. And a questionable shower. No, scratch that, the shower literally delivers a trickle of water. (Quirky Observation: My hair might develop a whole new ecosystem).
  • Afternoon: First mission: find food. (Rambling Alert: I'm already obsessed with the idea of eating all the street food. But my stomach is screaming, "Proceed with Caution!" I'm pretty sure I heard a Bollywood soundtrack… just kidding, but this whole experience feels like a Bollywood movie.) I ventured out bravely, or maybe sheer hunger fueled me. Found a tiny little place – barely bigger than my closet back home – selling paratha and sabzi. The paratha was divine. It was so good I nearly forgot about the questionable shower situation. Ordered a lassi and felt like a local. The lassi was heaven, the perfect balance of sweet and creamy. (Opinionated Observation: This is what heaven tastes like).
  • Evening: Decided to visit the Patna Museum. It was a sensory overload, in the best way possible. Ancient artifacts, sculptures, and history that quite literally takes your breath away. (Emotional Reaction: The sheer scale and history is overwhelming. It's humbling, really). But then, a power cut! Classic. Suddenly plunged into darkness, relying on the flashlight on my phone and the friendly museum staff guiding us out. (Imperfection: Briefly, for a split second thought I was cursed). Ended the night with a simple thali and a quiet reflection on how much I had already seen.

Day 2: Patna – Chasing Ghosts and Chai

  • Morning: Another early start because honestly, the sun dictates everything here. Headed to the Agam Kuan (the "Well of the Unborn"). It… was a well. A REALLY OLD well. They say it was used for torture. (Emotional Reaction: GAH! Now I'm imagining all sorts of historical horrors…). But then the guide shared a story, and you couldn't help but feel a little bit of history there.
  • Morning (Continued): The Golghar. A massive, beehive-shaped granary. You can climb to the top. The promised views would have been beautiful, if not for the smog and the general chaos. (Quirky Observation: I'm pretty sure someone could fit an entire apartment complex inside). Stared at the city and tried to contemplate.
  • Afternoon (DOUBLE DOWN ON THE CHAI): Let me tell you, finding the perfect chai is ESSENTIAL. It's not just a drink, it's a ritual. So, yesterday, I'd been looking around and stumbled across a tea stall. It was bustling, chaotic, but the most important thing – the chai. Spices and milk infused with the perfect balance. This time, they didn't offer milk and just gave me plain chai. (Emotional Reaction: I was at first disappointed until I tasted it. It was the best, rich, complex, bold, and flavorful chai I've ever tasted. The experience changed my view on things. I spent the next hour just drinking, drinking, and drinking.
  • Evening: Walked by the ghats. Saw the sunset over the Ganges. Saw the people, the rituals. It felt like an awakening. (Emotional Reaction: I don't think I've ever felt so peaceful, so connected to something bigger than myself).
  • Evening (Continued): Now in the middle of the night. I took a train to Jaipur.

Day 3: Jaipur – Pink City Dreams & Palace Adventures

  • Early Morning: Train from Patliputra to Jaipur was a whirlwind. Think vibrant saris flashing by the window, rhythmic chatter, and the constant aroma of something delicious being cooked. (Opinionated: If you don't experience train travel in India, you're missing a crucial part of the story.)
  • Morning: Arrived in Jaipur, which is a world apart from Patna. Immediately a sensory assault of pink. The architecture is breathtaking. Checked into a lovely hotel. This one actually had a working shower. (Emotional Reaction: Hallelujah!).
  • Afternoon: Amber Fort - The Ultimate Rajasthan Daydream. This is where the trip really went insane. Hired a tuk-tuk and a guide. Now, I could talk about the history (which is fascinating) and the architecture (stunning), but honestly, what I remember most is the sheer scale of it all. (Doubling Down: I got lost. More then one time. The fort is massive, there are so much details. The views over the valley were jaw-dropping. And the guide was hilarious, filling with stories). The climb up the hill. The elephant ride (yes, controversial, but an unforgettable experience).
  • Afternoon (Continued): The afternoon and the tour just kept going. I didn't want it to stop, and I almost missed the ending. (Emotional Reaction: I was in awe by the end of the day. It was a truly amazing experience.)
  • Evening Visited the City Palace. Saw the observatory. Got lost in a maze of rooms and courtyards. Dinner at a rooftop restaurant, overlooking the city…the perfect ending.
  • Night: Jaipur is so beautiful at night. Walked the streets and absorbed the city.

Day 4: Farewell Jaipur

  • Morning: Saw the Hawa Mahal
  • Afternoon Last bit of shopping for souvenirs.
  • Evening Departure.

The Rest, As They Say…

This is just a glimpse, of course. I barely scratched the surface of what both cities have to offer. And I guarantee, there will be more mishaps, surprises, and moments of pure, unadulterated joy ahead. So, pack your sense of adventure, your willingness to embrace the unknown, and maybe a few rolls of toilet paper. You'll need it.

Important Notes:

  • Food: Be adventurous, but listen to your gut!
  • Transportation: Be prepared for chaos, embrace it!
  • Bargaining: It's a part of life. Learn to do it (or at least try).
  • Be Open: Let the experience shape you.

Now go out there and get lost!

Uncover the Hidden Gem of Jaipur: PATLIPUTRA's Untold Story! (…Or, At Least, My Slightly-Exaggerated Version)

So, Patliputra? Isn't that, like, an ancient city in... *Bihar*? What's it doing in Jaipur?

Okay, okay, *deep breath*... You got me. It's not the *original* Patliputra. I mean, I wish! That'd be an epic time-travel opportunity. No, this is a *restaurant*. But hear me out! It's themed around the ancient kingdom, aiming for the vibe, y'know? Think of it as a modern-day, Jaipur-based, delicious homage. Think… *Indiana Jones and the Temple of Curry*! (Too much? Probably.) But seriously, they *try*. And the food... oh, the food. We'll get to that. Just promise you'll hold your "historical accuracy" snobbery a little longer, okay? I did! And it was worth it.

What's the overall atmosphere like at Patliputra? Is it just another generic Indian restaurant?

Generic? *Absolutely not*! Okay, it *starts* like a fancy-ish Indian place, dim lighting, some slightly too-enthusiastic waiters, *slightly* overpriced water. But then… you look around. And you start to see the details. They've gone for the whole "ancient royalty" thing. Think murals depicting epic battles (maybe a *little* cartoonish, but hey!), intricately carved wooden screens, and enough gold accents to make Midas jealous. It's… a lot. Maybe a bit much for some, but I found it kind of charming in its slightly OTT-ness. Honestly, it’s like walking into a Bollywood set. Or, you know, a really elaborately decorated home of a wealthy Indian family. It’s… extravagant. And not in a bad way, provided you appreciate the effort, which I kinda did. My sister, the art historian, rolled her eyes, but she *did* eat more than her usual three bites, so... win?

And the food? Is it any good? Spill the beans!

Okay, here’s where Patliputra *really* shines. The food… oh, God, the food. I’m still dreaming of the *Laal Maas*. Seriously, it was melt-in-your-mouth tender, with a spicy kick that crept up on you. I almost licked the plate. *Almost.* (Don't tell anyone, though.)

And the *Dal Makhani*? Creamy, rich, perfect with the fluffy naan. I ordered extra naan, I am not ashamed!. The *paneer* dishes were also divine. I'm not usually a paneer fan, but this stuff... this was something else. I'm getting hungry just thinking about it! Honestly, the flavors were incredible. I went in expecting your standard butter chicken and tikka masala. I was SO wrong. They clearly know what they're doing in the kitchen. It was truly a culinary experience. Not just food. An *experience*.

What about the service? Was it, you know, actually *good*?

Okay, this is where it gets… *interesting*. The waiters are really friendly, *too* friendly, almost a little overwhelming. They're super attentive, maybe *too* attentive. One was practically hovering, refilling my water glass every two seconds. And don't get me started on the upselling! "Sir, would you like a *special* mango lassi? Our premium saffron-infused rice? A gold-plated spoon to eat it with?" (Okay, maybe not the last one, but you get the idea.) But, honestly, I can't fault their enthusiasm. And once they realized I wasn't going to order everything on the menu, they calmed down a bit. They were genuinely helpful when I was choosing what to order, offering recommendations And even though the waiter almost knocked over my drink getting to the table when I wanted some extra napkins, he was quick to apologise. Plus, they're always smiling! Can't complain about that! They just needed to be a little less… eager? Maybe? I dunno, I’m nitpicking here.

Any downsides? Anything at all? (Be honest!)

Okay, honesty time. Yes. A few. First of all, the price. It's not *cheap*. Prepare to shell out a bit more than you would for a standard Indian meal. It’s one of those places you go to for a *special occasion*. Unless you're really loaded. Then go every day! 😉 Also, as I mentioned earlier, that whole "overly attentive" waiter thing. It can be a bit much when you're just trying to enjoy your meal. And, perhaps, the decor *is* a bit over-the-top. Though, as I said, it's kind of charming as well, in it's slightly, well, let's call it, *enthusiastic* way. And, well, traffic. It's in a pretty central location, which means traffic can be a beast to get to, and especially leaving. Plan accordingly..

And here's an *actual* downside: I got food envy. The table next to us ordered this insane-looking dessert platter! I didn't see it in the menu. I *died* a little inside. It was a major regret for the rest of the evening. I should have asked! Lesson learned: Always, always, *always* be nosy and see what other people are ordering. And don't be afraid to ask! God, the thought of that dessert is making me crave something sweet…

Would you go back to Patliputra?

Absolutely. Without a doubt. Yes. 100%. Despite the slight issues, the food alone is worth the trip. And honestly, the whole over-the-top experience? It grew on me. It's… memorable. I left feeling full, happy, and with a story to tell. I mean, where else can you eat a Laal Maas that could probably compete with a royal feast while simultaneously navigating overzealous but well meaning service? Not many places. So yes, I'd absolutely go back. And maybe, just maybe, this time I'll manage to snag a glimpse of that elusive, dessert platter. Wish me luck! Maybe I'll ask for a gold-plated spoon this time. Just kidding. Mostly.

Oh! And one more thing. The music selection was *epic*. Traditional Indian music, of course, but with a modern twist. It set the mood, and it was playing throughout the whole meal. I did not Shazam one single song, but I wanted to! I was really enjoying the whole experience.

Any special tips or advice for visiting Patliputra?

Okay, a few things.

  • Book in Advance! Especially on weekends. It's popular. You do *not* want to be standing there, hangry, waiting for a table.
  • Don’t be afraid to ask. Especially about the spice levelsSearch Hotel Guide
